Kairos: Live The Fourth
by Jason Coelho
In our everyday lives, we are often caught up in a hustle and bustle lifestyle. We do not have any time to take a step back and examine our life from a different perspective, where the world does not revolve around us, a world where there is a greater purpose than what we try to live for. I was able to take this step back when I embarked on a three-day retreat known as Kairos.
The instant I stepped off the bus, I could sense a brand new environment, where I could feel God’s presence. The fresh air and great wide-open space allowed me to relax and contemplate my relationship with God. Over the course of the next three days I was able to grow with my fellow retreatants and discover why I am part of this world. The retreat allowed me to experience personal growth, social growth and most importantly spiritual growth with Christ. It was apparent that God was there, every day, and I was able to communicate with Him in the greatest way possible, through prayer and reflection. The retreat gave me what I, and many others are striving to receive out of life, which is the ability to love and be loved. I was able to develop a brotherhood with all of my fellow retreatants, and we were able to relate and understand each other on a personal and spiritual level. I got to experience God’s love first-hand, and it was awesome!
Though I cannot divulge the activities I participated in and the experiences themselves, I can reveal the feelings I felt upon the conclusion of this retreat. I was at peace with myself, and at peace with God. I felt unreserved joy, because I was closer to God than I had ever been my entire life, and it felt great! And for all those who are contemplating whether or not they should embark on this extraordinary spiritual journey, just sign up! And "you’ll see."
